SNR Morgans

Welcome to the homepage of Rob and Sheila Franklin and SNR Morgans.  We are currently located in San Pedro, California - although that's only a temporary situation.  We are an Air Force family and the government has seen fit to station Rob at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo.  This has not stopped our love for horses, but it has made us tinker with the way we take care of them.  Currently, we have only three of our horses (1 mare, 2 Geldings) close at hand.  They are boarded near Ranchos Palos Verdes in a hillside stable overlooking the Pacific Ocean with a view of Catalina Island.  Sheila - and her two best friends Josepha and Barbara - love to ride the hillside trails overlooking the ocean or even take the horse down for a walk along the beach.

The rest of the horse are back in Ohio.  These horses include 2 stallions (Clark and Wally whose pictures are located above), 3 mares, 1 three-year old filly and 1 two-year old buttermilk buckskin gelding.  One day in the future, we intend to move back to a rural area where we can again have the horses living right outside the back door.  This way we can focus on our goal of raising the finest family-oriented Morgan show horses imaginable.

Our horses are quiet enough to take on a weekend trail ride, yet beautiful and talented enough to compete at the Class A level. As a matter of fact, during the Summer of 1998, Sheila won the Amateur Owned and Trained English Pleasure Class at the Circle J Regional, rode sidesaddle in the New Mexico State Fair parade, went trail riding in the Monzano mountains and then went on to place 5th in the Classic Pleasure Stallions and Geldings at the Nationals - all on the same Morgan Stallion.  That is how we define true versatility in our Morgans.

The move to California has curtailed our ability to show horses locally.  However, we do have our Grey Morgan stallion - SNR Steel Blue Magnolias - in training with Meredith Rozier Cook of Breezy Knoll Farm in Troy, Ohio.  He has been leased to Morningstar Morgans in London, Ohio.  We have done this as we believe Clark is the finest grey Morgan stallion standing to the public.  He is also a naturally talented individual and has already one blue at Class A Morgan shows.  It is our intent for Clark to make his debut in Oklahoma City in 2007.

All breeding inquiries to SNR Steel Blue Magnolias should be directed to Wanda Scharff at Morningstar Morgans.  Frontgate Fortunate Son does not stand to the public at this time as he has been privately leased to a farm located in central Ohio.
